Brunswick County:

According to the 2005 Census estimates, Brunswick County was 84,575. This is an increase of 15.63% from the 2000 census of 73,143. Brunswick County was founded in 1764, named after the Ducky of Brunswick-Lueneburg, at the time held by the English Kings of the House of Hanover. North Brunswick County real estate, in towns such as Winnabow, Leland, and Belville, are popular residential and commercial locations of the greater Wilmington metropolitan area. The county seat for Brunswick County is located at Bolivia, located in the center of the county.

The area surrounding Leland Industrial Park is whole to businesses such as DuPont, Wright Corporation, Corning, Inc., General Electric, KoSa, Takeda Chemical Products USA, Occidental Electrochem Corporation, and Forton Industries. Shallotte Business Park is a 50-acre park and is zoned for commercial manufacturing. The Southport/Oak Island Industrial Park is a 20 acre park and is zoned for heavy manufacturing. Lastly there are The Carolina Business Park and the Lincoln Industrial Park, both commercial manufacturing centers. The largest civilian industries by employment in Brunswick County are manufacturing and retail trade.

As of 2002, Brunswick County had a personal per capita income of $23,908, an increase of over 23% from 1997. The local median household income as of the 2000 census is $35,888.

Parks & Recreation

Brunswick County offers seemingly endless outdoor recreational activities as well as areas for cultural enjoyment and just general family fun. Brunswick County offers many adult recreational leagues, such as men’s and women’s softball, Men’s over 30 basketball league, adult kickball, and flag football. For kids, there are youth boxing programs, basketball, baseball, and girl’s softball.
