Search homes in Wilmington real estate

Things to Do in Downtown Wilmington: Thalian Hall

A majestic Wilmington property waits patiently for the stage to be set and the curtain to rise. As one of the oldest theatres in the United States, Thalian Hall has seen its share of drama. Performances vary on this piece of Wilmington real estate. Plays, concerts, musicals and educational programs are all held within the theatre’s walls. Thalian Hall’s background is also in the forefront. With its history dating back to 1858, many guided tours take place. The amazing architecture of the building is highlighted as well as the colorful characters who once took the stage.

History at Thalian Hall

Thalian Hall is a treasure of its own in Wilmington NC. Built in the mid-nineteenth century, this building has not only served as a source of entertainment but also as a political center as well. Back in that time, it not only housed theater productions, but also the town government and the library. Over the years, it has evolved with its uses, but the biggest project for its evolution and expansion started in 1998 and finished in 1990 when a two-week festival of performing arts took place.

Since then, with the new renovations and expansions, Thalian Hall has hosted over 400 events that were attended by a culmination of almost 80,000 people--a number that doubled from its previous accomplishments.

A Huge Theater for Events of All Kinds

Over the years that Thalian Hall has been in existence, it has hosted countless world-class events and seating over 500 people per production. That's a lot of people!

Check out this image of the beautiful red seats that line the theaters' rows on the parquet level, the level that sits closest to the stage.

Guests of the theater get to enjoy high-quality performances in all genres of entertainment as they sit in this expansive theater that transcends time and history. Whether you need a night to yourself, a night with your significant other, or even a night with your buddies, Thalian Hall has options of entertainment for all kinds of interests. Shows like Oliver, Aladdin, Hairspray, and more have made their way to the main stage of this immaculate theater.

Here is a view of the beautiful mezzanine with expansive visions of the main stage and the lovely chandelier that adorns the center of the theater.

With its delicate column features and intricate setup, this theater has its own special kind of magic.

Wilmington Real Estate Plays A Key Role In The Community
